Until a fix is available, users should avoid opening untrusted ICO files or visiting untrusted webpages that might trigger the vulnerability.
Description
A heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in GIMP's ICO file parsing functionality. This flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by convincing a user to open a crafted malicious ICO file or visit a malicious page. The vulnerability arises from improper validation of user-supplied data length before copying it to a heap buffer, leading to potential code execution in the context of the current process. Multiple specific GIMP versions are affected.
