AI-suggested

A patch is available in GitPython version 1.2.0.post0_15 that adds --separate-git-dir to the unsafe_git_clone_options denylist, preventing its use unless allow_unsafe_options=True is explicitly set. Users should upgrade to this fixed version to mitigate the vulnerability. Until upgraded, applications should avoid forwarding separate_git_dir or separate-git-dir options to Repo.clone_from() or Repo.clone() with allow_unsafe_options=False. No other mitigations are specified or required.

Description

GitPython versions prior to 1.2.0.post0_15 have a vulnerability in the clone_from() and clone() methods where the --separate-git-dir option is not blocked by the unsafe_git_clone_options denylist. This allows an attacker controlling input to specify an arbitrary filesystem path for the Git metadata directory during a clone operation, enabling creation of repository metadata outside the intended clone destination.
