AI-suggested
No explicit patch or remediation is provided in the available data. The vulnerability affects versions before 0.24.1, indicating that upgrading to version 0.24.1 or later would remediate the issue if such a version exists. If you cannot patch yet, users should avoid checking out repositories with untrusted UNC symlink targets on Windows with symlinks enabled.
Description
A credential disclosure vulnerability exists in gix-fs component of gitoxide before version 0.24.1. Remote attackers can exploit this by supplying UNC symlink targets in a crafted repository. When a user checks out this repository on Windows with symlinks enabled, the vulnerability causes SMB authentication to leak NTLM credentials including username, domain, and NTLMv2 hash.
