AI-suggested
No mitigation is currently available that meets Red Hat Product Security's standards for usability or stability. Users should upgrade to fixed versions of GStreamer gst-plugins-bad1.0 at or above upstream version 1.28.2. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and 10 users should apply updates when available. Fedora 44 and later are not affected as they include the fix. Avoid opening untrusted AV1 media content until patched.
Description
An integer overflow vulnerability exists in the AV1 LEB128 variable-length integer parser of GStreamer gst-plugins-bad1.0. This flaw allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service (application crash) by crafting a malformed AV1 bitstream with an invalid LEB128-encoded value. The vulnerability affects certain versions of gst-plugins-bad1.0 and requires the user to open or play untrusted AV1 media content. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity, only availability.
