Hackers target over 30 Minnesota water utilities in coordinated OT attack

Description
A coordinated cyberattack targeted operational technology (OT) systems at more than 30 community water utilities in Minnesota, causing temporary outages and equipment malfunctions. The Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) agency activated statewide cybersecurity incident response efforts and is collaborating with federal, state, local, Tribal, and private partners to investigate and remediate the incident. The attacks disrupted water treatment operations temporarily but services were restored. The threat actor remains unknown, and no requests for changes in water usage were issued. The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) recommends isolating key OT systems to maintain critical service continuity during such attacks.
