Description

ImageMagick versions before 6.9.13-57 and 7.x before 7.1.2-32 have an information disclosure vulnerability in the PostScript decoder. This flaw allows an attacker to supply a crafted PostScript file that causes the decoder to allocate a buffer one byte longer than the decoded data, exposing a single uninitialized byte of memory. The vulnerability has a medium severity rating with a CVSS score of 5.3.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-109273 describes an information disclosure vulnerability in ImageMagick's PostScript decoder in versions prior to 6.9.13-57 and 7.x prior to 7.1.2-32. The decoder allocates a buffer that is one byte longer than the data it processes, which can lead to exposure of a single uninitialized byte of memory when processing a crafted PostScript file. This vulnerability does not affect integrity or availability, only confidentiality to a limited extent.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows an attacker to disclose a single uninitialized byte of memory from the ImageMagick process. This could potentially leak sensitive information but does not allow code execution or denial of service. The impact is limited to information disclosure with no integrity or availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in ImageMagick versions 6.9.13-57 and 7.1.2-32 and later. Users should upgrade to these or newer versions to remediate this vulnerability. No other mitigation guidance is provided or required.
