Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves improper access control in the Workers component of Google Chrome before version 152.0.7977.65. It enables a remote attacker to bypass the web origin policy, which is a fundamental security mechanism that restricts how documents or scripts loaded from one origin can interact with resources from another origin. The issue can be triggered via a crafted HTML page. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 4.3, reflecting a network attack vector, low complexity, no privileges required, user interaction required, unchanged scope, and limited confidentiality impact.

Potential Impact

An attacker can bypass the web origin policy, potentially allowing unauthorized access to resources or data that should be restricted by origin boundaries. The impact is limited to confidentiality, with no integrity or availability effects reported. This could lead to information disclosure under certain conditions.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users and administrators should update Google Chrome to version 152.0.7977.65 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. There are no vendor advisories indicating that no action is required or that the issue is already mitigated by other means.
