Improper Input Validation vulnerability in Apache ActiveMQ, Apache ActiveMQ All, Apache ActiveMQ Stomp. (CVE-2026-49432)
Description
CVE-2026-49432 is an improper input validation vulnerability in Apache ActiveMQ and its STOMP connectors. A remote unauthenticated attacker can send a negative content-length value to trigger denial-of-service conditions. This can cause out-of-memory (OOM) errors or abnormal connection closures depending on the STOMP transport type. The issue affects versions before 5.19.8 and from 6.0.0 before 6.2.7. Upgrading to versions 5.19.8 or 6.2.7 resolves the vulnerability.

Technical Analysis
This vulnerability in Apache ActiveMQ's STOMP connectors allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to cause denial-of-service by sending a negative content-length value. For the NIO STOMP transport, continuous streaming of body bytes can cause the per-connection command buffer to grow beyond configured limits, leading to out-of-memory conditions. For the blocking STOMP transport, the error triggers abnormal transport exception handling and connection closure. The flaw affects Apache ActiveMQ versions prior to 5.19.8 and from 6.0.0 prior to 6.2.7. The issue is fixed in versions 5.19.8 and 6.2.7.
Potential Impact
An unauthenticated remote attacker can cause denial-of-service by exploiting improper input validation in the STOMP connectors of Apache ActiveMQ. This can lead to out-of-memory conditions or forced connection closures, disrupting service availability. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity reported.
Mitigation Recommendations
Users should upgrade Apache ActiveMQ to version 5.19.8 or 6.2.7 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigations are specified. Patch status is confirmed by the vendor advisory.
