Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-48845 affects Roundcube Webmail in versions 1.6.x from 1.6.14 through 1.6.16 and 1.7.x prior to 1.7.1. The vulnerability arises because remote image blocking is not enforced for URLs that point to local or private network destinations. This can lead to unintended information disclosure or privilege escalation through crafted HTML email content that bypasses the intended image blocking controls.
Potential Impact
The vulnerability can result in information disclosure or privilege escalation due to the failure to block remote images from local/private URLs in email messages. This could allow an attacker to bypass security controls designed to prevent leaking sensitive information or escalating privileges via email content.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance.
