Description

Versions of the RSA SecurID Authentication Manager app for Splunk SOAR below 1.0.5 contain an information disclosure vulnerability. A user with permission to run actions can see sensitive token serials in cleartext when invoking enable or revoke token actions because the token_serial parameter is not masked in the user interface. This occurs because the app does not treat this parameter as a password. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 4.3, indicating medium severity.

Technical Analysis

In RSA SecurID Authentication Manager app for Splunk SOAR versions prior to 1.0.5, the token_serial parameter used in the enable token and revoke token actions is not masked and is displayed in cleartext in the user interface. This allows users with action execution permissions to view sensitive token serial information, constituting an information disclosure vulnerability classified under CWE-312 (Cleartext Storage of Sensitive Information). The vulnerability does not affect integrity or availability and requires user privileges to run actions.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows disclosure of sensitive token serials to users with permission to run actions, potentially exposing authentication token information. There is no impact on system integrity or availability. The confidentiality impact is limited to the token serial data exposed in the user interface.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in version 1.0.5 of the RSA SecurID Authentication Manager app for Splunk SOAR. Users should upgrade to version 1.0.5 or later to ensure the token_serial parameter is properly masked. Until upgraded, restrict permissions to run actions to trusted users only to minimize exposure.
