Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in Apache APISIX (CVE-2026-74848) is an inconsistent interpretation of HTTP requests, commonly known as HTTP Request/Response Smuggling. This allows an attacker to manipulate how HTTP requests and responses are processed, leading to scenarios where clients may receive attacker-controlled or other users' responses on serverless-plugin routes. The affected versions range from 2.12.0 through 3.17.0. The vendor has addressed this issue in version 3.18.0.

Potential Impact

An attacker exploiting this vulnerability could cause clients to receive unauthorized or attacker-chosen HTTP responses, potentially leading to information disclosure or confusion in client-server communication on serverless-plugin routes. There is no indication of privilege escalation or remote code execution from the provided data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should upgrade Apache APISIX to version 3.18.0, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation or temporary workaround is indicated in the available information.
