Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in TOTOLINK T6 4.1.5cu.748_B20211015 involves improper access control in the getNtpCfg function. An attacker without authentication can exploit this by sending a specially crafted POST request to the /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi CGI endpoint, resulting in unauthorized disclosure of the device's NTP configuration and current time information.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can obtain sensitive NTP configuration and current time data from the affected device. While this does not directly lead to remote code execution or device takeover, disclosure of configuration details may aid further reconnaissance or targeted attacks.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official remediation information is currently available. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is provided, restrict access to the device's management interfaces and monitor for suspicious POST requests to /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi.
