Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-51617 is an access control vulnerability in the getSysStatusCfg function of TOTOLINK T6 firmware 4.1.5cu.748_B20211015. Due to improper access restrictions, unauthenticated attackers can send specially crafted POST requests to the endpoint /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi to retrieve sensitive configuration and status information from the device. This includes critical details such as encryption keys and network configuration parameters.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthorized disclosure of sensitive device information without authentication. Exposure of encryption keys and network configuration details can facilitate further attacks or unauthorized network access. However, there is no indication of remote code execution or direct device takeover from the provided data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the device management interface from untrusted networks and monitor for suspicious POST requests to /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi.
