Technical Analysis

The TOTOLINK T6 router firmware 4.1.5cu.748_B20211015 contains an access control vulnerability in the setWizardCfg function. This vulnerability permits unauthenticated attackers to modify critical device configurations such as WAN settings, Wi-Fi parameters, and device initialization state via a specially crafted POST request to the /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi endpoint. This could potentially allow attackers to disrupt network connectivity or alter device behavior without authentication.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows unauthenticated attackers to reconfigure network and device settings remotely, potentially causing denial of service, unauthorized network access changes, or device misconfiguration. No evidence of active exploitation is currently known.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the device management interface from untrusted networks and monitor for suspicious POST requests to /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi.
