Description

SiYuan versions before v3.7.4 have a missing authorization vulnerability in the /api/ref/refreshBacklink endpoint. This flaw allows anonymous users to trigger persistent server-side writes and perform resource amplification attacks by invoking the endpoint with attacker-controlled input. The advisory is a duplicate and has been withdrawn in favor of GHSA-wgwx-479j-23vq. No patch information is provided in this record.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in SiYuan note-taking software prior to version 3.7.4 involves a missing authorization check on the /api/ref/refreshBacklink API endpoint. This allows unauthenticated users to cause persistent writes on the server by flushing transaction queues and scanning references globally. The flaw bypasses read-only protections and enables resource amplification, potentially impacting server availability or integrity. The advisory is a duplicate of GHSA-wgwx-479j-23vq and has been withdrawn to preserve external references.

Potential Impact

An attacker can cause persistent server-side writes without authentication, bypassing intended read-only restrictions. This can lead to resource amplification attacks, potentially degrading server performance or availability. There is no direct confidentiality impact reported. The CVSS score is 6.5 (medium severity), reflecting the impact on integrity and availability without confidentiality loss.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory GHSA-wgwx-479j-23vq for current remediation guidance. Since this advisory is a duplicate and withdrawn, refer to the original advisory for official fixes or mitigations.
