AI-suggested
Red Hat has released Keycloak version 26.6.8 with multiple security fixes; however, the vendor advisory does not explicitly confirm a fix for CVE-2026-97846. Until a fix is confirmed, restrict access to client credentials and monitor for suspicious token exchange activities. Avoid relying solely on the Standard Token Exchange V2 feature for security enforcement.
Description
Keycloak's mTLS holder-of-key binding feature ensures tokens are bound to the client's digital certificate. A vulnerability in the Standard Token Exchange V2 feature allows tokens to be obtained without checking this certificate binding. This flaw enables attackers with stolen client credentials to acquire unrestricted tokens that bypass intended security protections.
