Technical Analysis

The vulnerability (CVE-2026-84808) in Kimai affects versions prior to 2.65.0 and involves an authorization bypass in the REST API timesheet collection endpoint. The endpoint fails to enforce activity-team access controls properly, enabling users with the view_other_timesheet permission to access timesheets for activities outside their authorized teams. This is classified under CWE-863 (Incorrect Authorization). The CVSS v3.1 score is 4.3 (medium severity), with network attack vector, low attack complexity, requiring low privileges and no user interaction, impacting confidentiality only.

Potential Impact

An attacker with the view_other_timesheet permission can access timesheet data from teams they are not authorized to view, potentially exposing sensitive or restricted information. There is no impact on integrity or availability reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in Kimai version 2.65.0. Users should upgrade to version 2.65.0 or later to remediate this authorization bypass vulnerability. No other mitigation steps are indicated.
