AI-suggested

A security update fixing these vulnerabilities is available and should be applied promptly. Ubuntu has released patched Linux kernel packages for various distributions and cloud environments as detailed in advisory USN-8818-1. After updating, a system reboot is required to apply the fixes. Due to ABI changes, third-party kernel modules must be recompiled and reinstalled. Users should follow the vendor's update instructions carefully.

Description

Multiple security vulnerabilities were discovered in the Linux kernel, including a critical issue affecting some Arm processors where a broadcast TLB invalidation could complete before memory writes were globally observed. This flaw could allow a local attacker to write to memory after permissions were revoked, potentially bypassing memory protections or escalating privileges. Additional flaws affect various subsystems such as InfiniBand drivers, network drivers, exFAT file system, NFS client and server, and several networking protocols. These issues were addressed in updated Linux kernel packages for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and 22.04 LTS.
