Technical Analysis
LogicalDOC Community Edition through version 9.3 contains a username enumeration vulnerability (CVE-2026-109206) due to the AvatarServlet (/avatar) endpoint not performing session validation. This allows unauthenticated attackers to supply usernames or numeric IDs in the userId parameter and compare 1x1 transparent images against actual avatars to enumerate valid user accounts and retrieve profile pictures. The vulnerability is classified under CWE-204 (Information Exposure Through Discrepancy).
Potential Impact
An attacker can identify valid usernames on affected LogicalDOC Community Edition instances without authentication. This information disclosure can facilitate further targeted attacks such as phishing or brute force attempts. The vulnerability does not impact confidentiality of other data, integrity, or availability directly.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, consider restricting access to the /avatar endpoint or implementing additional access controls to prevent unauthenticated enumeration.
