Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-9660 describes multiple exploitable stack-based buffer overflow vulnerabilities in the boa formFilter functionality of the TOTOLINK X2000R device firmware version TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327. An attacker with authentication privileges can send a specially crafted HTTP request targeting the vpnPassword parameter to trigger these overflows, which may lead to arbitrary code execution. The vulnerabilities are classified under CWE-121 (stack-based buffer overflow) and have a CVSS v3.1 score of 9.1, indicating critical impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected device, potentially compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system. This could lead to full control over the device.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is currently available. Since the vulnerability requires authenticated HTTP requests, restricting access to the management interface and monitoring for suspicious authenticated activity may reduce risk. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance.
