Node multiparty: multiparty is a Node.js library for parsing multipart/form-data request bodies. (CVE-2026-87908)
Description
The Node.js library multiparty, used for parsing multipart/form-data request bodies, contains a denial of service vulnerability in versions from 2.1.0 up to but not including 4.3.1. The parser does not limit the memory used when accumulating headers of a single multipart part, allowing an attacker to exhaust server memory by sending a request with very large header bytes. This vulnerability does not affect confidentiality or integrity. The issue is fixed in version 4.3.1 by capping the size of accumulated part headers.

Technical Analysis
multiparty versions >=2.1.0 and <4.3.1 have a denial of service vulnerability (CVE-2026-87908) due to unbounded memory usage when parsing multipart part headers. An unauthenticated attacker can send a single multipart request with excessively large headers, causing the parser to buffer all header bytes and exhaust process memory, crashing the server. The vulnerability is resolved in multiparty 4.3.1 by imposing a limit on the size of accumulated part headers.
Potential Impact
An unauthenticated attacker can cause a denial of service by crashing the server through memory exhaustion. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity of data.
Mitigation Recommendations
Upgrade multiparty to version 4.3.1 or later, which includes a fix that caps the size of accumulated part headers to prevent memory exhaustion.
