Users should monitor official NVIDIA and Ubuntu advisories for updates and apply patches once available. Until then, restrict local user access to trusted individuals to reduce risk.
Description
NVIDIA GPU Display Driver versions 304 for Windows and Linux contain a use-after-free vulnerability in the open-source kernel module Resource Server. This flaw allows an unprivileged local user to trigger memory corruption due to a missing self-reference guard during map cleanup. Exploitation could lead to code execution, privilege escalation, denial of service, information disclosure, and data tampering. The vulnerability has a high severity rating with a CVSS score of 7.8. Multiple specific Ubuntu package versions of these drivers are affected. No public exploit or patch information is currently provided.
