AI-suggested

Until a fix is available, users should be aware of this vulnerability when using OAuthLib's device authorization grant and consider mitigating by restricting client types or implementing additional validation on device_code parameters in their own code. Monitor official OAuthLib repositories and advisories for updates addressing this issue.

Description

OAuthLib contains a vulnerability in its implementation of the OAuth 2.0 device authorization grant (RFC 8628). The token endpoint does not validate the device_code parameter, allowing an attacker who knows a valid client ID for a public client configured for the device workflow to obtain a bearer token without a valid device_code. This flaw arises because DeviceCodeGrant.validate_token_request lacks proper device_code validation, unlike other grant types. The vulnerability affects versions of the product ggshield from 1.53.0 onward.
