Until a fix is available, users should review their OAuthLib implementations to ensure proper validation of the device_code parameter in device code grant flows. Implementing a validation method for device_code similar to validate_code in authorization code grants is recommended to prevent unauthorized token issuance.
Description
OAuthLib versions 0.19.13_1 and later contain a vulnerability in the device code grant implementation where the token endpoint does not validate the device_code parameter. This allows an attacker who knows a valid client ID for a device workflow to obtain a bearer token without a valid device_code. The issue arises because the DeviceCodeGrant.validate_token_request method lacks proper validation of the device_code, unlike other grant types. This flaw affects implementations using the RFC 8628 device workflow in OAuthLib.
