AI-suggested

Upgrade OGNL to version 3.4.13 or later, where reflection classes are added to the stricter-invocation block list, preventing this bypass. Additionally, ensure that your application uses a restrictive MemberAccess implementation that disallows access to dangerous classes and the java.lang.reflect package when evaluating untrusted OGNL expressions. Relying solely on the block list for sandboxing is insufficient and not recommended. No other mitigation is required if a proper MemberAccess is in place.

Description

CVE-2026-113730 is a vulnerability in OGNL's stricter-invocation mode where the block list intended to prevent dangerous method calls can be bypassed using Java reflection proxies. This allows expressions to invoke blocked methods indirectly via reflection, circumventing the block list. However, this bypass only affects configurations that rely solely on the block list without a restrictive MemberAccess control. Properly configured frameworks like Apache Struts with SecurityMemberAccess are not affected. The issue is fixed in OGNL version 3.4.13 by adding reflection classes to the block list.
