Technical Analysis

OpenBao is a software solution for managing, storing, and distributing sensitive data such as secrets, certificates, and keys. Versions prior to 2.3.0 contain a vulnerability (CVE-2025-52893) where processing malformed data can cause sensitive information to be leaked in application logs. This vulnerability is separate from a previously disclosed issue (HCSEC-2025-09 / CVE-2025-4166). The vulnerability has been addressed and fixed in OpenBao version 2.3.0. No alternative mitigations exist beyond ensuring well-formed client requests.
