Published: 08/13/2026 (08/13/2026, 17:21:32 UTC)
Source: GCVE Database
Product: openclaw-cli

Description

OpenClaw CLI versions prior to 2026.2.3 with Slack integration enabled are vulnerable to remote code execution via system prompt injection. Slack channel metadata such as topics or descriptions can be incorporated into the model's system prompt, increasing the risk of prompt injection. This vulnerability is relevant only when Slack integration is enabled and tool execution is allowed, potentially leading to unintended tool invocations or data exposure. A patch is available in version 2026.2.3. Users not using Slack do not need to take action.

Technical Analysis

The OpenClaw CLI Slack integration incorporates Slack channel metadata into the model's system prompt. This allows untrusted Slack channel descriptions to be treated as higher-trust input, increasing the attack surface for prompt injection. Successful exploitation in deployments with enabled tool execution could cause unintended tool invocations or data leaks. The vulnerability affects openclaw versions prior to 2026.2.3 and is fixed in 2026.2.3.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability increases the risk of prompt injection by allowing untrusted Slack channel metadata to influence the system prompt. In deployments with tool execution enabled, this could lead to unintended execution of tools or exposure of sensitive data. The CVSS score is 3.7 (low severity), indicating limited impact with requirements for network access, high attack complexity, low privileges, and user interaction.

Mitigation Recommendations

If Slack integration is not used, no action is required. If Slack is used, upgrade OpenClaw CLI to version 2026.2.3 or later to apply the official fix and mitigate the vulnerability.
