Technical Analysis
The vulnerability in OpenClaw CLI (CVE-2026-41910) involves the /allowlist functionality omitting enforcement of owner-only permissions when performing allowlist writes across different channels. This means an authorized user who is not the owner of a channel could attempt to write to that channel's allowlist, violating intended access controls. The flaw is scoped to the OpenClaw trust model and does not assume multi-tenant service boundaries. The issue was fixed in the main branch and released in version 2026.4.8, with regression tests verifying the fix.
Potential Impact
An authorized user without ownership privileges could attempt to modify the allowlist of channels they do not own, potentially leading to unauthorized changes in channel access control. The vulnerability does not impact confidentiality or availability but has a limited integrity impact. There is no indication of active exploitation in the wild.
Mitigation Recommendations
Upgrade to OpenClaw CLI version 2026.4.8 or later, which contains the official fix for this vulnerability. The fix has been verified with targeted regression tests. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the patch.
