Published: 08/13/2026 (08/13/2026, 17:21:32 UTC)
Source: GCVE Database
Product: openclaw-cli

Description

A vulnerability in the openclaw CLI allows Bonjour and DNS-SD TXT metadata to influence CLI routing even when service resolution fails. This means unresolved hints could steer the CLI to unintended targets. The issue affects openclaw versions prior to 2026.3.22. A fix was released in version 2026.3.22 and remains in subsequent versions.

Technical Analysis

The openclaw CLI had a flaw where Bonjour and DNS-SD TXT metadata could still direct CLI routing despite the failure of actual service resolution. This allowed unresolved metadata hints to influence the chosen target endpoint. The vulnerability was addressed by changing the code to only resolve and return concrete endpoints and to consume only fail-closed resolved endpoint paths. The fix was implemented in version 2026.3.22.

Potential Impact

An attacker could potentially influence the CLI routing by providing unresolved Bonjour/DNS-SD TXT metadata, leading to the CLI targeting unintended endpoints. The CVSS score is 4.6 (medium severity), indicating limited confidentiality and integrity impact with no availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should upgrade openclaw CLI to version 2026.3.22 or later, where the issue is fixed. The fix ensures only fully resolved endpoints are used for routing, preventing unresolved metadata from influencing CLI behavior.
