Description

OpenClaw CLI versions before 2026.4.14 have a vulnerability in the browser SSRF policy where private-network navigation is allowed by default. This behavior exposes internal services or metadata endpoints to browser-driven requests where stricter restrictions were expected. The issue was fixed in version 2026.4.14 by preserving strict SSRF configuration semantics and disabling private-network access unless explicitly enabled.

Technical Analysis

The OpenClaw CLI package for npm had a security flaw (CVE-2026-43527) in its browser SSRF policy. By default, the policy allowed navigation to private network addresses, which could expose internal services or metadata endpoints through browser-initiated requests. The vulnerability affected versions from 2026.1.29 up to but not including 2026.4.14. The fix, included in version 2026.4.14, enforces strict SSRF configuration by disabling private-network access unless explicitly opted in and updates loopback CDP readiness handling accordingly.

Potential Impact

This vulnerability allows browser SSRF protection to be bypassed in default configurations, potentially exposing internal network services or metadata endpoints to unauthorized browser-driven requests. This could lead to information disclosure of sensitive internal resources. The CVSS score is 7.7 (high severity) with network attack vector, low complexity, low privileges required, no user interaction, scope changed, high confidentiality impact, and no integrity or availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should upgrade to OpenClaw CLI version 2026.4.14 or later, which includes the fix for this vulnerability. The fix disables private-network navigation by default in the SSRF policy unless explicitly enabled. No other mitigation actions are required once the upgrade is applied.
