Source: GCVE Database
Product: openclaw-cli

Description

Openclaw CLI versions before 2026.4.5 have a vulnerability where the Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP) /json/version WebSocket URL can redirect to untrusted hosts, allowing a second-hop SSRF-style pivot. This could cause a browser profile to trust a malicious WebSocket URL pointing to a different host. The issue is fixed in version 2026.4.5 and later.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in openclaw CLI affects versions prior to 2026.4.5. The CDP /json/version endpoint returns a webSocketDebuggerUrl that could point to an untrusted second-hop target, enabling a server-side request forgery (SSRF)-style pivot. The fix involves normalizing and re-validating the WebSocket targets before establishing connections, preventing redirection to untrusted hosts. The fix was introduced in commit bc356cc8c2beaa747c71dd86cceab8f804699665 and merged via PR #60469. Users are advised to upgrade to version 2026.4.5 or newer, with 2026.4.14 including the fix.

Potential Impact

An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause a browser profile to trust a malicious WebSocket URL that points to a different host, enabling a second-hop SSRF-style pivot. This could lead to unauthorized access or interaction with unintended network targets. The CVSS score is 7.7 (high severity), indicating a significant impact on confidentiality without affecting integrity or availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available and users should upgrade to openclaw version 2026.4.5 or later. The latest npm release, 2026.4.14, includes the fix. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official update.
