Description

CVE-2026-41913 is a vulnerability in the openclaw CLI where concurrent asynchronous shared-secret authentication attempts can bypass the intended rate-limit budget on Tailscale-capable paths. This allows multiple authentication attempts to race the per-key rate-limit, potentially circumventing restrictions. The issue affects openclaw versions up to 2026.4.2 and was fixed in version 2026.4.4. The vulnerability has a low CVSS score of 3.7 and does not assume a multi-tenant service boundary.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in OpenClaw CLI (CVE-2026-41913) involves concurrent asynchronous shared-secret authentication attempts that can bypass the intended per-key rate-limit budget on Tailscale-capable paths. This race condition allows attackers to exceed the rate limits designed to protect authentication endpoints. The flaw is scoped to the OpenClaw trust model and does not consider multi-tenant service boundaries. The issue affects versions up to 2026.4.2 and was fixed in version 2026.4.4 with a verified commit.

Potential Impact

The impact is limited to bypassing the shared-secret rate-limit budget, which could allow an increased number of authentication attempts beyond intended limits. The CVSS score is 3.7 (low severity), indicating limited impact primarily on confidentiality with no integrity or availability impact. There is no indication of active exploitation in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available and should be applied by upgrading to OpenClaw CLI version 2026.4.4 or later. The fix has been verified with regression tests. No additional mitigation actions are indicated by the vendor advisory.
