Openclaw cli: OpenClaw DM pairing-store identities could satisfy group allowlist authorization (CVE-2026-32027)
Description
A vulnerability in openclaw-cli versions from 2026.1.29 up to but not including 2026.2.26 allows DM pairing-store identities to bypass group allowlist authorization checks. This flaw enables a sender authorized via direct message pairing to satisfy group sender allowlist requirements without explicit inclusion in the group allowlist, causing an authorization boundary violation between DM pairing and group allowlists. The issue is fixed in version 2026.2.26.

Technical Analysis
In openclaw-cli versions >=2026.1.29 and <2026.2.26, group allowlist authorization incorrectly inherited identities from the DM pairing store. This allowed senders approved through DM pairing to pass group allowlist checks without being explicitly listed in the group's allowlist (`groupAllowFrom`). This represents an authorization-policy boundary issue between DM pairing and group allowlists. The vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2026-32027 and has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 6.5 (medium severity). The issue was fixed in version 2026.2.26 with commits 8bdda7a651c21e98faccdbbd73081e79cffe8be0 and 051fdcc428129446e7c084260f837b7284279ce9.
Potential Impact
An attacker who is authorized via DM pairing could bypass group allowlist restrictions and send messages in group contexts without explicit group authorization. This could lead to unauthorized message sending in groups, violating intended authorization policies. There is no impact on integrity or availability, only confidentiality (unauthorized access to group messaging). No known exploits in the wild have been reported.
Mitigation Recommendations
A patch is available in openclaw-cli version 2026.2.26. Users should upgrade to this version or later to remediate the vulnerability. The maintainers fixed the issue prior to public disclosure, and the patch is officially released. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the update.
