Source: GCVE Database
Product: openclaw-cli

Description

A vulnerability in the openclaw CLI allows an endpoint discovered during remote onboarding to persist even after the trust is declined by the operator. This results in gateway credentials being routed to the attacker-discovered endpoint if the operator accepts the prefilled prompt. The issue affects versions prior to 2026.3.31 and has been fixed in version 2026.3.31.

Technical Analysis

The openclaw CLI has a vulnerability (CVE-2026-41300) where the remote onboarding process preserves an attacker-discovered endpoint after the operator declines trust. This causes gateway credentials to be routed to that endpoint if the operator accepts the manual prompt prefilled with the endpoint. The vulnerability affects versions from 2026.1.29 up to but not including 2026.3.31. The issue has been patched in version 2026.3.31, with the fix committed on 2026-03-30.

Potential Impact

If exploited, this vulnerability could lead to leakage of gateway credentials to an attacker-controlled endpoint. However, exploitation requires operator acceptance of the prefilled prompt, which reduces the likelihood of automatic compromise. The severity is assessed as medium.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade to openclaw CLI version 2026.3.31 or later, which contains the official fix for this vulnerability. Operators should be cautious when accepting prefilled prompts during onboarding to avoid routing credentials to untrusted endpoints.
