Description

OpenClaw CLI versions prior to 2026.3.22 could expose credentials embedded in channel baseUrl and related endpoint fields through read-scoped gateway snapshots. This vulnerability allows sensitive credential information to be inadvertently revealed. The issue was fixed in version 2026.3.22 by redacting credential-bearing URL fields while preserving safe context.

Technical Analysis

The OpenClaw CLI package (npm) versions before 2026.3.22 contain a vulnerability where read-scoped gateway snapshots expose credentials embedded in channel baseUrl and related endpoint fields. The fix, shipped in version 2026.3.22, involves stripping URL userinfo from channel status snapshot fields and redacting credential-bearing baseUrl and httpUrl fields to prevent credential exposure. This vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2026-35644.

Potential Impact

Credentials embedded in URLs within channel baseUrl and related endpoint fields could be exposed via read-scoped gateway snapshots, potentially leading to unauthorized access if these snapshots are accessed by unauthorized parties. There is no indication of active exploitation in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade OpenClaw CLI to version 2026.3.22 or later, where the vulnerability is fixed by redacting credential-bearing URL fields. No additional mitigation is required as the fix is officially released and available.
