Source: GCVE Database
Product: openclaw-cli

Description

A vulnerability in openclaw-cli versions 2026.1.29 up to but not including 2026.3.12 allows Feishu reaction events to bypass group authorization and mention gating. This occurs because reaction events missing the 'chat_type' field are misclassified as direct messages rather than group messages, causing authorization checks to be bypassed. The issue is fixed in version 2026.3.12.

Technical Analysis

In openclaw-cli, a Feishu reaction-originated synthetic event that omits the 'chat_type' field can be misclassified as a peer-to-peer (p2p) chat instead of a group chat. Authorization and mention-gating logic rely on the chat type to enforce protections such as 'groupAllowFrom' and 'requireMention'. Due to the misclassification, these protections are bypassed for reaction-derived events in Feishu group chats. The vulnerability affects versions from 2026.1.29 up to but excluding 2026.3.12. The issue is resolved in openclaw-cli version 2026.3.12, where reaction events preserve the correct group context before authorization and mention-gate evaluation.

Potential Impact

Attackers can bypass group-level authorization and mention gating protections for reaction events in Feishu group chats, potentially allowing unauthorized reactions or mentions that would normally be restricted. This could lead to unintended information disclosure or interaction within group conversations.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available and should be applied. Users should update openclaw-cli to version 2026.3.12 or later, where the vulnerability is fixed by preserving the correct group context for reaction events before authorization and mention-gate evaluation.
