Technical Analysis

The OpenClaw CLI gateway plugin HTTP authentication previously granted the operator.admin runtime scope to all callers regardless of their granted scopes. This flaw allowed callers to escalate privileges improperly. The vulnerability was verified in version 2026.3.24 and fixed by commit ec2dbcff9afd8a52e00de054b506c91726d9fbbe, which ensures plugin HTTP runtime scopes are least-privileged and respect caller scope boundaries.

Potential Impact

Callers could gain unrestricted operator.admin runtime privileges via the gateway plugin HTTP routes, potentially allowing unauthorized administrative actions within the OpenClaw CLI environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available and was released in version 2026.3.25. Users should upgrade to this version or later to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.
