Openclaw cli: OpenClaw has a SSRF guard bypass via full-form IPv4-mapped IPv6 (loopback / metadata reachable) (CVE-2026-26324)

Product: openclaw-cli

Description

OpenClaw CLI versions before 2026.2.14 have a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) protection bypass vulnerability. The SSRF guard fails to block requests using full-form IPv4-mapped IPv6 addresses such as 0:0:0:0:0:ffff:7f00:1, which maps to the loopback address 127.0.0.1. This allows potentially unauthorized access to loopback, private network, or link-local metadata endpoints. The issue is fixed in version 2026.2.14.

Technical Analysis

OpenClaw's SSRF guard component (src/infra/net/ssrf.ts) incorrectly classifies full-form IPv4-mapped IPv6 literals, allowing bypass of protections intended to block requests to loopback and private network addresses. Specifically, addresses like 0:0:0:0:0:ffff:7f00:1 (IPv4-mapped IPv6 for 127.0.0.1) were not detected as loopback, enabling SSRF bypass. The vulnerability affects openclaw CLI versions >=2026.1.29 and <2026.2.14. A fix was committed (commit c0c0e0f9aecb913e738742f73e091f2f72d39a19) and will be included in version 2026.2.14.

Potential Impact

An attacker could bypass SSRF protections to send requests to internal loopback or private network addresses that should be blocked. This could expose sensitive internal services or metadata endpoints. The CVSS 3.1 score is 7.5 (high severity) with network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, no user interaction, and high confidentiality impact but no integrity or availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available and planned for release in openclaw CLI version 2026.2.14. Users should upgrade to version 2026.2.14 or later once published to mitigate this SSRF bypass vulnerability.
