Description

OpenClaw CLI versions up to 2026.2.19-2 have a vulnerability where enabling the insecure option 'gateway.controlUi.allowInsecureAuth: true' and exposing the Control UI over plaintext HTTP can allow an attacker with leaked or intercepted credentials to gain privileged operator access. This insecure deployment bypasses device identity and pairing guarantees. The issue was fixed in version 2026.2.21.

Technical Analysis

The OpenClaw CLI contains a vulnerability (CVE-2026-32034) where enabling the configuration gateway.controlUi.allowInsecureAuth: true and exposing the Control UI over plaintext HTTP permits authentication that bypasses intended device identity and pairing guarantees. This insecure deployment choice exposes credentials to interception or prior leakage, enabling attackers to gain high-privilege Control UI access. The issue was fixed in commit 40a292619e1f2be3a3b1db663d7494c9c2dc0abf merged on 2026-02-20, with the patched version planned as 2026.2.21.

Potential Impact

In deployments where the insecure authentication option is explicitly enabled and the Control UI is exposed over plaintext HTTP, attackers who have obtained leaked or intercepted credentials can gain privileged operator access, potentially compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in OpenClaw CLI version 2026.2.21. Users should upgrade to this version or later. Additionally, avoid enabling gateway.controlUi.allowInsecureAuth: true and exposing the Control UI over plaintext HTTP to prevent credential exposure risks.
