Description

OpenClaw CLI versions up to 2026.2.26 have an authorization bypass vulnerability allowing unauthorized senders to trigger stop-like abort commands and access the /models command output without proper sender authorization. This could disrupt active sessions and expose model and authorization metadata that should be restricted. The issue is fixed in version 2026.3.1 by enforcing sender authorization on these command paths.

Technical Analysis

OpenClaw CLI contains an authorization bypass vulnerability in its stop triggers and the /models command. Unauthorized senders could invoke stop-like natural-language abort triggers and retrieve /models command output without passing sender authorization checks. This flaw allows disruption of active sessions and unauthorized viewing of model and authorization metadata. The vulnerability affects versions up to and including 2026.2.26 and is patched in version 2026.3.1 by enforcing sender authorization on these commands.

Potential Impact

An attacker without proper authorization can disrupt ongoing sessions by triggering stop-like abort commands and can access sensitive model and authorization metadata via the /models command output, potentially leading to information disclosure and operational disruption.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available in OpenClaw CLI version 2026.3.1 that enforces sender authorization for stop-like abort triggers and the /models command. Users should upgrade to this version to remediate the vulnerability.
