Product: openclaw-cli

Description

OpenClaw CLI versions prior to 2026.3.31 have a vulnerability where HTTP operator endpoints do not validate browser-origin headers in trusted-proxy mode. This can lead to a cross-site request forgery (CSRF) or browser-origin validation gap. The issue is considered medium severity by the maintainer but is rated high based on CVSS 3.1 scoring. The vulnerability depends on deployments using identity-bearing trusted-proxy browsers rather than shared-secret HTTP operator models. A fix is available in version 2026.3.31 and later.

Technical Analysis

The OpenClaw CLI package versions from 2026.1.29 up to but not including 2026.3.31 have a security vulnerability (CVE-2026-41347) where HTTP operator endpoints lack browser-origin validation when operating in trusted-proxy mode. This creates a risk of cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks or similar browser-origin validation bypasses. The vulnerability is mitigated by the nature of the trusted-proxy deployment model, which relies on identity-bearing browsers rather than shared secrets. The issue was fixed in commit 6b3f99a11f4d070fa5ed2533abbb3d7329ea4f0d and patched in version 2026.3.31.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to perform unauthorized actions via CSRF or browser-origin validation bypass in trusted-proxy mode, potentially leading to limited confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts. However, the impact is constrained by the requirement for identity-bearing trusted-proxy browser deployments, reducing the overall criticality.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should upgrade to OpenClaw CLI version 2026.3.31 or later, where the vulnerability is patched. No additional mitigation is required if the upgrade is applied.
