Openclaw cli: OpenClaw is Missing Webhook Authentication in Telnyx Provider Allows Unauthenticated Requests (CVE-2026-26319)
Description
OpenClaw CLI versions up to 2026.2.13 have a vulnerability in the Telnyx webhook handler of the optional voice-call plugin that allows unauthenticated HTTP POST requests if the Telnyx public key is not configured. This enables attackers to forge Telnyx events. The issue affects deployments where the voice-call plugin is enabled and the webhook endpoint is accessible to attackers. A fix is planned for version 2026.2.14 and later, which enforces signature verification by requiring the Telnyx public key configuration.

Technical Analysis
OpenClaw's voice-call plugin for Telnyx webhooks fails to enforce signature verification when the Telnyx public key is not configured, causing the webhook handler to accept unsigned inbound webhook requests. This allows unauthenticated callers to forge Telnyx events by sending arbitrary HTTP POST requests to the webhook endpoint. The vulnerability affects versions >=2026.1.29 and <2026.2.14. The fix enforces fail-closed verification requiring the public key and disables signature verification bypass except for local development.
Potential Impact
Attackers can send unauthenticated webhook requests to the Telnyx webhook endpoint, potentially causing the system to process forged Telnyx events. This can lead to unauthorized actions triggered by the voice-call plugin. The impact is limited to deployments with the voice-call plugin enabled and the webhook endpoint reachable by attackers.
Mitigation Recommendations
A fix is available in OpenClaw version 2026.2.14 and later that enforces signature verification by requiring the Telnyx public key configuration. Users should upgrade to 2026.2.14 or later. Alternatively, configuring the 'telnyx.publicKey' or 'TELNYX_PUBLIC_KEY' enables signature verification. The 'skipSignatureVerification' option should only be used for local development and is off by default with warnings.
