Openclaw cli: OpenClaw: Leaf subagents could steer sibling sessions across sandbox boundaries (CVE-2026-32915)

Source: GCVE Database
Product: openclaw-cli

Description

OpenClaw CLI versions up to 2026.3.10 contain a vulnerability where sandboxed leaf subagents can bypass session boundaries and control sibling sessions. This allows a low-privilege sandboxed worker to steer or kill sibling runs owned by the same requester, potentially executing with broader tool policies. The issue is fixed in version 2026.3.11 by restricting subagent control access and enforcing descendant-only control scope.

Technical Analysis

In affected versions of openclaw (<= 2026.3.10), sandboxed leaf subagents retained access to the 'subagents' control interface and could issue control requests authorized against the parent requester scope rather than being confined to their own session tree. This flaw allowed a low-privilege sandboxed leaf worker to steer or kill sibling runs within the same requester scope, effectively bypassing sandbox and session boundaries. The vulnerability was addressed in [email protected] by removing 'subagents' control access from leaf subagents by default, scoping control requests to the caller's own descendants, and rejecting requests targeting runs outside that descendant tree.

Potential Impact

An attacker with low-privilege sandboxed access can manipulate sibling sessions owned by the same requester, potentially causing unauthorized execution with broader tool policies. This represents a sandbox and session-scope boundary bypass with high confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact as per the CVSS score.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade to openclaw version 2026.3.11 or later, which removes subagent control access from leaf subagents by default and restricts control requests to the caller's own descendant sessions. This official fix fully mitigates the vulnerability.
