Published: 08/13/2026 (08/13/2026, 17:21:32 UTC)
Source: GCVE Database
Product: openclaw-cli

Description

A vulnerability in the OpenClaw CLI's Mattermost interactive callback dispatch allowed action handlers to run before sender authorization checks were completed. This could enable unauthorized actions to be executed. The issue affects versions prior to 2026.3.22 and was fixed in version 2026.3.22. The fix ensures callback authorization is required before dispatching actions, aligning with normal sender and allowlist policies.

Technical Analysis

The OpenClaw CLI (npm package) had a security flaw (CVE-2026-35652) where Mattermost interactive callback dispatch could execute action handlers before completing sender authorization checks. This bypass allowed non-allowlisted sender actions to be processed. The vulnerability affects versions before 2026.3.22. The fix, shipped in version 2026.3.22, enforces callback authorization prior to dispatching actions, routing authorization through the same sender and allowlist policy as normal ingress. The fix commit is a47722de7e3c9cbda8d5512747ca7e3bb8f6ee66.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthorized action handlers to be executed via Mattermost callbacks, potentially leading to integrity and availability impacts. The CVSS score is 6.5 (medium severity) with no confidentiality impact but low attack complexity and no privileges required. There are no known exploits in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available and was released in OpenClaw CLI version 2026.3.22. Users should upgrade to version 2026.3.22 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
