Source: GCVE Database
Product: openclaw-cli

Description

OpenClaw CLI versions up to 2026.3.24 contain a path traversal vulnerability in media parsing that allows arbitrary file read. This vulnerability is fixed in version 2026.3.28 and later. The flaw enables an attacker with limited privileges to read files outside the intended directory. No known exploits are reported in the wild. The vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 vector indicating network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, no user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality. Users should upgrade to version 2026.3.28 or later to remediate this issue.

Technical Analysis

OpenClaw CLI versions <= 2026.3.24 suffer from a path traversal vulnerability in the media parsing component that leads to arbitrary file read. This allows an attacker to read files outside the intended scope by manipulating file paths. The vulnerability is patched in version 2026.3.28, with the fix committed on 2026-03-25. The CVSS 4.0 vector indicates a network attack vector with low complexity and no privileges or user interaction required, resulting in high confidentiality impact.

Potential Impact

An attacker can read arbitrary files on the system where OpenClaw CLI is running, potentially exposing sensitive information. The vulnerability does not require user interaction or elevated privileges, increasing the risk. However, no known exploits are currently reported in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade OpenClaw CLI to version 2026.3.28 or later, where the vulnerability is fixed. The fix is already released and available. No additional mitigation steps are required once the upgrade is applied.
