Technical Analysis

The openclaw-cli package versions >=2026.4.7 and <2026.4.10 contain a vulnerability where operator.write commands can access and modify persistent memory dreaming configuration via the /dreaming gateway path. This effectively allows a write-scoped gateway path to toggle admin-class configuration settings without proper authorization. The vulnerability was addressed by requiring admin scope for persistent dreaming gateway toggles. The fix was implemented in pull request #63872 and included starting with version 2026.4.10.

Potential Impact

An attacker with write-scoped operator privileges could escalate their configuration control by toggling persistent memory dreaming settings, which are intended to be restricted to admin-level access. This could lead to unauthorized configuration changes affecting system behavior.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should upgrade to openclaw-cli version 2026.4.10 or later, as this version includes the official fix that restricts persistent dreaming configuration toggles to admin scope.
