Description

OpenClaw CLI versions before 2026.3.31 have a vulnerability in the MS Teams webhook handling where the webhook parses the JSON body before validating the JWT token. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to cause resource exhaustion. The issue is fixed in version 2026.3.31 and later.

Technical Analysis

The OpenClaw CLI MS Teams webhook component parses the JSON body of incoming requests before performing proper JWT validation. This sequence allows unauthenticated requests to trigger resource-intensive parsing operations, leading to potential resource exhaustion. The vulnerability affects versions from 2026.1.29 up to but not including 2026.3.31. The fix was introduced in version 2026.3.31, which enforces authentication before parsing the request body.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to cause resource exhaustion on the affected system by sending specially crafted MS Teams webhook requests. This can degrade service availability or cause denial of service. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade OpenClaw CLI to version 2026.3.31 or later, where the issue is fixed by enforcing JWT validation before parsing the request body. Since a patch is available and the fix is included in the official release, applying this update fully mitigates the vulnerability.
