Source: GCVE Database
Product: openclaw-cli

Description

OpenClaw CLI versions before 2026.3.31 have a vulnerability where the Nostr privateKey is stored as a plain string and can be leaked via the config.get method, bypassing intended redaction. This exposure allows an attacker with access to configuration views to obtain the plaintext signing key. The issue is fixed in version 2026.3.31.

Technical Analysis

The OpenClaw CLI package (npm) versions >=2026.1.29 and <2026.3.31 model the Nostr privateKey as a plain string, which allows the config.get function to bypass redaction and leak the plaintext signing key. This vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2026-41385 and has a CVSS 3.1 score of 6.5 (medium severity). The fix was committed on 2026-03-31 and released in version 2026.3.31, which properly addresses the secret-schema to prevent exposure.

Potential Impact

An attacker with access to configuration views can retrieve the plaintext Nostr privateKey, potentially compromising signing operations that rely on this key. The vulnerability does not affect confidentiality beyond the privateKey exposure, nor does it impact integrity or availability directly.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade OpenClaw CLI to version 2026.3.31 or later, where the privateKey redaction bypass is fixed. Versions prior to 2026.3.31 are vulnerable. No additional mitigation is required once updated.
