Openclaw cli: OpenClaw: Pairing pending-request caps were enforced per channel instead of per account (CVE-2026-41346)
Description
OpenClaw CLI versions from 2026.2.26 up to but not including 2026.3.31 enforced pending pairing-request caps per channel file rather than per account. This caused a denial of service condition where requests from one account could exhaust the shared pending window, blocking new pairing challenges on other accounts within the same multi-account channel. The issue impacts availability only and does not allow unauthorized access or cross-account approvals. The vulnerability was fixed in version 2026.3.31.

Technical Analysis
In OpenClaw CLI prior to version 2026.3.31, the enforcement of pending pairing-request caps was scoped per channel file instead of per individual account. This flaw allowed requests from one account to fill the shared pending request window, thereby preventing new pairing or onboarding requests from other accounts on the same multi-account channel. The issue is limited to availability impact and does not permit data access, authorization bypass, or cross-account approval. The fix, committed under hash 9bc1f896c8cd325dd4761681e9bdb8c425f69785, scoped the pending request caps correctly per account. The patch was released in version 2026.3.31 and is included in subsequent releases.
Potential Impact
The vulnerability causes a denial of service condition affecting the ability to initiate new pairing or onboarding requests on unaffected accounts sharing the same multi-account channel. It does not compromise confidentiality or integrity, nor does it allow unauthorized access or cross-account actions. The impact is limited to availability disruption until existing requests expire or are approved.
Mitigation Recommendations
A fix is available and was officially released in OpenClaw CLI version 2026.3.31. Users should upgrade to version 2026.3.31 or later to remediate this issue. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the official patch.
