Technical Analysis

Openclaw CLI versions >=2026.1.29 and <2026.3.28 have a security flaw in which the `/phone arm` and `/phone disarm` commands bypass the `operator.admin` scope check when executed via external channels. This allows unauthorized users to perform these actions without proper administrative scope validation. The maintainers accepted the issue and fixed it in commit aa66ae1fc797d3298cc409ed2c5da69a89950a45, released in version 2026.3.28.

Potential Impact

Unauthorized users can bypass the intended administrative scope check for the `/phone arm` and `/phone disarm` commands on external channels, potentially allowing them to arm or disarm phone-related functions without proper authorization. This could lead to unauthorized control over phone system states.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should upgrade to Openclaw CLI version 2026.3.28 or later, where the bypass issue has been fixed. The fix is officially released and available. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the update.
